Xantrex Supports Mission for Impoverished Third-World Communities, Strives to ‘Make a Difference’ …

VANCOUVER, B.C., April, 2011 -- Xantrex Technology USA Inc., a subsidiary of Schneider Electric, continues its corporate heritage of supporting worthy projects and missions that improve life through clean electrical power. Most recently, Xantrex partnered with HEsentme, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in developing nations. According to Jim Dotson, founder, Xantrex XPower™ Powerpack 1500 was recently used in the remote African bush country of Balembar to great success.

“I stopped at a small maternity clinic and asked the field nurse what they did when a woman went into labor at night, or when they had to rush to some wild, remote location to help a woman in need,” he said. “The nurse showed me one small blue kerosene lamp and explained how they used it exclusively to light the delivery room during childbirth. I realized what they needed was a mobile power source that could survive the extreme weather conditions of the sub-Sahara desert. I purchased the Xantrex unit to power fluorescent lights and other electronics. Two days later, I returned to the clinic and learned the very first baby had been born in light.”

Xantrex plans to partner with HEsentme by supplying power generating products for other projects including a secondary maternity clinic and a new school in Burkina Faso and Ghana, respectively.

“It is a source of immense pride for us to know that our products are indeed making a difference in the lives of an entire community that can really benefit from our technology,” said David Norman, Director of Marketing & Strategy, Xantrex Technology USA Inc. “We are committed to developing efficient energy and environmentally conscious products and are pleased to learn about the life-changing results experienced by those less fortunate than us. We will continue to support these efforts as much as and whenever possible.”

In 2010, Xantrex partnered with other organizations, charities and missionaries including the International Coral Reef Foundation and Floating Doctors Mobile Medical Clinic among others.
